3-7 December 2012, The Sebel, Albert Park, Melbourne

Preparations for the annual conference of the Ecological Society of Australia, to be held in Melbourne from 3-7 December 2012 are well underway.

A conference venue, plenary speakers, symposia themes and the conference dinner venue have all been finalised. You can find this information, and more general information about accommodation, on the Conference website:
www.esa2012.org.au

The Call for Abstracts will open in late April 2012. Application forms for Field Trip and Workshop proposals are also on the website.

The Local Organising Committee, chaired by Dr John Morgan, is looking forward to ESA2012. 'This is the first time that the annual meeting has been held in Melbourne since 2000. We're expecting a good turnout' said John. 'The conference will be held at The Sebel in Albert Park, a short stroll from the city.  We hope to organize a vibrant and engaging conference, with relevance to the broader community.'

At ESA2012, delegates will get ‘back to basics’ and focus on the scientific inquiry that underpins the discipline of ecology. Hence, a title and theme that resonates with the broad objectives of the conference was chosen: Ecology: Fundamental Science of the Biosphere. 'Ecology is fundamentally important to the conservation and wise management of the Earth’s natural resources' said John. 'It needs to be based on rigorous theory, survey, experimentation and modeling. We want to showcase this research'.

Lookout for further updates on Twitter, Facebook, the Conference website. In the meantime, put 3-7 December 2012 in your diary.

The local organising committee looks forward to your participation in Melbourne.
